Heather just emailed me (from about 3 feet above my head) to let me know that Karissa is now signing the word 'more' and has four teeth. Good job, Karissa!

Karissa Says "Da-da" ... With Her Hands!
From Heather:
Last night at church I was standing with a couple ladies talking about the sort of things ladies talk about after church when Karissa decided to verbally and physically say "dada." She just looked up from the ladies, saw James in the background, raised her open hand with her thumb to her forehead, and plain as day signed and said "dada." It was amazing. She repeated it several times and clapped and said "yeah" for herself while I did the same for her.

Praise God for Christian Friends
Someone--you know who you are--just swung by the house and left us two dozen eggs, explaining that her chickens had been laying well this week.
Well, the Fedders have given us a rudimentary course in the amazing nutritional value of an egg, so I'm grateful on that count, but even more for what you have done for my wife.
Other than when observing Karissa's many charming ways, Heather has not smiled all day as big as she did when displaying her eggs for all to see. When you can compete with Karissa in smile-production, you're playing in the big-leagues.
Of course, it wasn't the nutrition that was cheering her. It was that people whom we barely know, simply out of love to Christ and to Heather as one of His, have her on their hearts and minds, and put those feelings and thoughts into action. Heather felt loved--probably more by her surprise visitor than the husband who stomps around all day in the basement like those strange under-earth creatures in HG Wells's Time Machine.
So thank you for what you have done for me, and for my wife, and for our Lord. What you do for Heather, I count as done for me. With pleasure I remind you that Jesus says exactly the same thing to you (Matt 25:34-40)!

Heather Very Ill
Heather's been sick for about a week.
She's been taking it so well, that I didn't really realize how bad it was until she canceled hosting Sunday dinner tomorrow (she had been looking forward to meeting a Congolese friend of a friend) and even began talking about not attending worship.

Hakimfamily Online Updates
They tell us that it could hit 50 here today. We're not holding our breath. Everyone's doing well, and hopefully we'll do more updating.
