Monday at 11:30 the keys to the house were given to me and we then knew what it was to be first time home owners. There was a thrill that the house was so close that I could walk from the bank to the house and go look around. The kids immediately went to work hunting for treasures around the house.
By 5:30 there was an entire crew of parishoners there - including carpenters, painters, and an electrician. We were tearing down wall paper, ripping out old wood paneling, hanging drywall, mudding nail holes, correcting some wiring, pulling weeds, and sanding the cabinets to get ready to paint. By the end of the night we had the cabinets primed, the window in the wall between the kitchen and living room filled in, the yard mostly weeded, and the holes in the dining room walls mudded.
We are watching a transformation of love. We know those who are giving of their time and money to help us with our project are giving it to the LORD in a similar way as the Israelites did for Yahweh's sanctuary in Exodus 36. At times we almost felt like the skilled craftsmen who had to tell Moses to tell the Israelites to stop giving because they had enough. Notice I did say ALMOST. Haha. There is still work left to be done, but those who are giving of their time and talents are truely doing it for the glory of God as they serve us.
